Ravichandran is a third-generation farmer growing paddy, sugar cane, cotton, pulses and small grains for over 30 years in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. As a strong proponent of technology, Ravichandran writes for various magazines in Tamil and English, and often fills panel positions supporting the adoption of scientifically proven technologies to increase farm productivity in an environmentally sustainable manner. Ravichandran volunteers as a board member for the Global Farmer Network and is an active member of the World Economic Forum’s New Vision for Agriculture Transformational Leaders Network. He is an active member of the United Farmers Empowerment Initiative (UFEI) of India and formed the “United Progressive Farmers Forum” as a tool that helps farmers aggregate their resources and bridge the gap between agriculture and consumers. Ravi was recognized in 2013 as a recipient of the globally-recognized Kleckner Award and was honored with the Indian National “Harit Kranti Award 2016”, Innovative Farmer, for his outstanding contribution promoting the adoption of advanced technologies among farmers.
