Mathews Leads Grain South Africa

Derek Mathews, a Global Farmer Network member, has been reelected as the chairperson of Grain SA (GSA). He is known for his leadership skills and his ability to build relationships within the agricultural value chain and with political functionaries. Derek has been farming with his father since 1983. They farm 1,600 hectares of crops (30 hectares under center pivot irrigation) and raise 100 beef cattle. In 2005, he started South Africa's first corn ethanol plant with his brother.
