Rarely is there a shortage of news from around the world related to biotechnology or trade issues. ?Sadly though, much of it stems from the creative minds of professional activists looking to sow confusion to suit their own misguided missions, deftly?using?the media and internet – where it can at times be hard for people to know what is real and what is not.
Current examples in the news where this is taking place are the Greenpeace legal challenge against biotech crops being grown in the Philippines, and false rumors (sometimes known as ‘facts’ on the internet) being created the Zika virus being linked to pesticides, जैव प्रौद्योगिकी, or anything related to “big” ag or industry. ?Nor can we ignore the constant recycling of previously debunked and false information – such as another “review” on glyphosate by anti-ag/biotech researchers such as Charles Benbrook (available here?तथा response/rebuttal here) which is simply an effort to confuse consumers and restrict use of needed products. ? Let’s not even get started on the truly crackpot conspiracy theories (such as this Iranian accusation of biotech food being a ‘Zionist plot’ – यहाँ क्लिक करें).
That all said, the activist myth industry is simply too financially lucrative for the people behind the organizations. ?They make some pretty good coin. उदाहरण के लिए, regarding perhaps the most well-know professional activist group:
Greenpeace?s confrontational and swashbuckling approach has helped make it one the world?रों?most powerful environmental NGOs, with branches in 41 देशों, 2.9 million donors and more than $350 million in annual contributions.
