Question: What is your definition of sustainablefarming?

Répondre:Une agriculture systemcan beconsidéréas a sustainable one ever since itspectacles etdémostratsin practice itsaptitudetosimultanémentmatch and satisfy the three main axis for which the concept of sustainability is pillared on: the economic; le social; l'environnement.

Question: Whatfarmingpractices are you using on yourfarmtoday that helps the sustainability of yourfarmingoperation and the soil that you arefarmingon?

Répondre:I am farming my soils under the NoÀSystem, avec rotation des cultures, cultures de couverture ou de service, and all type of modern technologies as far as they offer apositifand reliable ROI [retour sur investissement] pas seulement dans le court [terme] but also in the medium and long range been which isde prèsrelated to the concept of adding to the system sustainability.

Peiretti a parlé dans le monde entier sur le sol et le semis direct.

Question: Where do you get information about sustainablefarmingpractices that are appropriate for yourfarm?

Répondre:Principalement d'organisations paysannes; by sharing through farmers to farmersla communication, aussi “Journées sur le terrain”or demonstrations. Experimental Stations deliveredinformationand experiences as well as basic information derived from universities and researchgens. Privécompanies many times play a significative role in this process. To change or introduce any major new technology or change on my farmingopération, Je les teste normalement dans de petites zones, and once I feelconfortableand confident with theavantagesof the change or the new technology(unekind of? processus d'essai et d'erreur) Je commence progressivement à l'intensifier au sein de ma ferme.

Question: How do you determine what practices work best on yourfarm?

Répondre:Interacting with other farmerset aussipermanently searching on the existing and offered new technologies and alternatives ways to do things within experimental stations, entreprises privées, stations expérimentales, Universités, etc. and once I detect them I somehow follow the process described onprécédent[question et réponse].

Question: Are there specific technologies that will support the sustainability of yourfarmingoperation?

Répondre:Since farming is equal to manage a very Complex System to evolve and make progress wetoujoursneed several different new technologies derived from many different type and areas of knowledge and science fields. Le système No Till, la biotechnologie, the discovery and development of newmoléculesfor differentfins quiprotect our crops from insect, maladiesetc., as well as new strategies to feed the soil as the best way to fertilize a crop(cettelater is linked to the concept of soil health), ne constituent que quelques exemples.

En voyageant pour des conférences, Peiretti prend également le temps d'apprendre des autres agriculteurs du monde entier.

Question: Do you share sustainablefarmingpractices that you use with otherfarmers? If yes, Comment?

Répondre:Oui,I frequently offer my knowledge and experienceacquisfrom my farm andtoujourshave received a lot from partners. I very frequently received farmers anddélégationsfrom my country as well as from other countries.

Je suis convaincu que c'est le meilleur, quickest and safest way to avoid errors when adopting new technologies. I have participated many times as presenter in all types of meetings related to agriculture - nationally and internationallyoffering my knowledge and experience andtoujoursacquérirand learning a lot from my partners by interacting, discuter et échanger avec eux.?

Private companies related toagricultureas well asGouvernementsor official institutions in some cases, jouent un rôle important dans la promotion, financement, l'organisation ou le partenariat ou le soutien des initiatives des agriculteurs, rencontres, jours sur le terrain,démostrationplots etc. These mechanisms regularly become a very effective way to facilitate farmer to farmer connections and hence to widespread knowledge and alternatives related with theréussieadoption of new technologies.
