Edgard is a family farmer, agronomist and advisor growing soybeans, corn, wheat, barley, legumes and sorghum in the northern Córdoba province. His farm covers 275 hectares. Through the no-till organization Aapresid, and working with the African Development Bank, Edgard leads an international program to transfer sustainable no-till based agricultural production systems and innovative technology adoption to Africa. The Transformation of the African Savannah Initiative is tasked with the export of direct seeding knowledge and machinery. The objective is to transfer the experience of Argentina in sustainable production over 400 million hectares, equivalent to 12 Argentinas that are without production or currently are not well managed. Aapresid decided to start with Ghana, bringing a technical team and machinery provided by Argentine companies. They’re working to successfully grow corn and soybeans.
