Bill Horan grows corn, soybeans, specialty crops and other grains on a family farm in North Central Iowa. In partnership with his brother, Bill provides leadership to Horan BioProduction, LLC. A former Marine and Viet Nam veteran, he received a BS from South Dakota State University and completed the Harvard Business School – Agricultural Executive Education Program.
Bill volunteers as a board member for the Global Farmer Network, and also helped lead the group for the past several years as Chairman before handing the reigns over in mid-2017. He serves on the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank Advisory Committee, Iowa Dept. of Transportation Freight Advisory Committee and is Chairman of the Board of Western Iowa Energy, a thirty million gallon a year Biodiesel Plant.
Bill’s life-long interest in renewable energy has been supported by his engagement as a steering committee member of the DC-based Natural Resource Solutions, LLC, a non-partisan group dedicated to developing public policy with a goal of US energy use to be 25 percent biomass-based by 2025. He also serves as a director for the Iowa State Research Park and is a member of the Dept. of Energy / USDA Biomass Technical Advisory Committee.
