Jake Leguee from Canada attended the 2017 Global Farmer Roundtable and is part of Leguee Farms in Southeastern Saskatchewan. Their family manages and operates the 13,000-acre (roughly 5250 hectares) farm with a couple of full-time and a few seasonal employees. They grow a variety of grain, oilseed, and pulses while at times testing others crops as well on land that has a variety of soils types that they’ve practiced no-till on for more than twenty years, which means avoiding tillage as much as possible. Doing so in combination with other approaches to modern agriculture is part of what they describe as “growing a sustainable future” on their website where they outline their approach and practices.

In addition to all the hard work and long hours on the farm and raising a young family, Jake also takes the time, as more farmers are doing these days, to share what they do on Facebook and Twitter and the website for Leguee Farms. Also on their website is their Mission Statement which reads at the end “We want to share the passion we have for agriculture, and help our industry develop a positive story.” After spending just a few minutes on their website, taking a quick peek at some tweets or posts, and pretty sure you’ll agree a positive story is indeed what they are telling.
