Nancy Kavazanjian, a farmer from Wisconsin, tells us about a new conservation method that’s recently been added to their farm, prairie strips, also called filter strips.


Nominations are being accepted for candidates to the 2021 Global Farmer Network Roundtable and Leadership Training. Tentatively scheduled to be held during summer 2021, the next Roundtable will include a virtual component prior to meeting in person in Brussels, Belgium. The face-to-face event date is dependent on when travel is allowed and people feel safe. Learn more about the event here.

Nancy Kavazanjian is a Wisconsin farmer who helps manage day-to-day business matters for a 2000-acre (800 hectare) family row crop farm and country elevator where the emphasis is on preserving soil and managing resources in a sustainable manner. Kavazanjian grew up in suburban New York. Today she farms in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin with her husband Charles Hammer. Together they have two grown children and four grandchildren and are involved in local watershed and land-use planning initiatives in their area.
